How God used suffering to bring a nation to Christ

Dr. Ed Smither, Columbia International University’s dean of Intercultural Studies, is also a professor of the History of Global Christianity and often writes about the early church. In a recent article on John Piper’s Desiring God website, Smither discusses how the suffering of Gregory the Illuminator led the nation of Armenia to Christ in the year 301. Smither writes:
