Columbia International University women’s soccer coach Kara Lail is being recognized by soccer officials for a reputation reflective of the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior.

The Frank Jewel Award is given annually to a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) coach by The National Intercollegiate Soccer Official Association (NISOA).

Lail, who just concluded her eighth season as women’s head coach, collects the award just two seasons after becoming eligible to receive the accolade. Lail is the longest-tenured active head coach at CIU and started the women's soccer program in 2015.

Lail says a positive coach who respects the officials is one of the most important aspects to creating an enjoyable college playing experience for student-athletes.

“We have had so many fantastic individuals officiate our matches over the years and appreciate their hard work and dedication to the sport in a position that often isn’t appreciated,” Lail said. “It is such an honor to receive this award from NISOA in conjunction with the NCCAA, and hope to continue to honor and give the utmost respect to those who officiate our games.”
