Columbia International University alumna Chandra Briggman says she is honored to be named the new president/chief executive officer of Activation Capital in Richmond, Virginia. Activation Capital assists business startups in accessing the tools and resources needed to navigate the entrepreneurial process.

“Activation Capital is well-positioned to help the Commonwealth of Virginia further actualize its potential as a leader in entrepreneurship and innovation,” said Briggman, who graduated from CIU in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Humanities.

Briggman’s career spans 24 years in national and regional strategy, innovation, and marketing in both startups and large enterprises. Prior to accepting the position with Activation Capital, Briggman was director of Venture Café Foundation, a nonprofit working to grow entrepreneurship across New England. She has also held innovation roles with the United States Postal Service in Washington, D.C., and held leadership roles with multiple startups.

Briggman is an active member of the entrepreneurship and innovation community, including as an instructor, coach/mentor, public speaker, and chair of the board for Youth CITIES, a nonprofit dedicated to youth entrepreneurship.
