Class of 2021: CIU has “equipped me to excel”
Meet members of the Class of 2021 as they discuss their time at CIU and look to the future
How has CIU prepared you for the future?
CIU has provided me with many solid Christian mentors through more experienced classmates, visiting missionaries, and especially through my professors. Their insight and the people they have connected me with have taught me so much and given me a lot of direction, helping me to see all the ways I can go into service for God. CIU has provided me with good exposure to different lines of work in the English field and equipped me to excel in whatever job I might take.
What is your fondest memory of CIU?
Theatre has played a large part of my time at CIU and I treasure the many hours I've spent practicing and performing with the wonderful cast members God brought into each show. I also loved the times I got to sit with my advisor, Dr. Sandra Young, and learn from her experience and passion for God and English. She was so patient with me and I learned a lot from her.
What has God taught you during your time at CIU?
God has taught me that I am not as great as I often think I am and that he grows us through each other and our various perspectives and experiences.
What will you miss the most about CIU?
I will miss the community. There is nothing sweeter than living in fellowship with other believers and I have found such good fellowship at CIU both among students and faculty.
What are your future plans?
I hope to either take a job as an editor or journalist or to join a ministry that needs English teachers and tutors. I love internationals and look forward to seeing if God will have me overseas or working in the United States.
