David Kite

David Kite is known as one of the top golfers in the Charleston, South Carolina area where he has made a living as a teaching golf pro. He played golf in college on a scholarship at the University of South Carolina and after graduation was an assistant golf coach at the College of Charleston.

But a few months ago, Kite, 34, left the game for a call to the ministry at his Charleston church and training at Columbia International University. Kite is enrolled in the Biblical Ministry Certificate program in Columbia Biblical Seminary and drives 90 miles each way, one day a week.

Kite is a pastor at River Church in the West Ashley area of Charleston meeting at Orange Grove Elementary School.

Because of Kite’s popularity among golfers in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, his story caught the attention of newspaper columnist Warren Peper of the Charleston Post and Courier. Read the article, “When the passion for teaching takes a golfer along a different path.”
