A Summer of Construction/Renovations at CIU

Phase II construction of Pine View Apartments with the Community Center at left.

Construction equipment is a common sight this summer along International Boulevard, the entrance road to Columbia International University.  Three major projects underway are expected to be complete when fall semester classes begin in late August.

A complete indoor overhaul of Founders Residence Hall will include renovated student rooms and hall baths.  A new lobby and a new academic center are being constructed on the first floor, while the lower level will feature a media room, baking center, meeting room, laundry and offices.   Meanwhile, outside Founders, the front entrance is being improved and green space expanded.

Next door at Petty Residence Hall, the hall baths are being renovated with the rest of the interior scheduled for improvements next summer.

Construction of Phase II of Pine View Apartments is on schedule.  When complete, 20 more apartments with 48 bedrooms will be available.  A new Community Building at Pine View Apartments will be ready by late September or early October.

Finally, as CIU gets ready to compete in intercollegiate athletics for the first time in school history this August, grass is growing on the new CIU soccer field.  A scoreboard and bleachers will soon be added.

CIU Senior Vice President for Development and Operations Keith Marion says the new athletic facilities were “made possible by generous donors who support our biblical philosophy of athletics.”
