Sandra was born and reared in Toppenish, Washington. After graduating from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, she married and moved to Columbia, South Carolina where she found employment as an executive secretary and administrative assistant. She earned her master’s degree in Charleston, South Carolina and upon completion taught high school English in a local urban high school. When the family returned to Columbia, she enrolled at the University of South Carolina and earned a Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in Composition and African American Literature. Sandra taught writing, literature, and methods classes for seven years at Columbia College where she directed the English Education program. Sandra relaxes by either reading a good book or spending time with her husband, Charles and their two adult children and marvels that God has allowed her to make a living doing what she enjoys most.
