Some of us are old enough to remember the commercial that

promised we could “Double the pleasure, double the fun” if

we chewed Doublemint Gum. But when it comes to double the

number of students a family has in college, “pleasure and fun”

don’t exactly come to mind. But you can help.

For example,

Michael and Darilyn Batterman (‘92 and ‘89)

minister in Kenya as two of their four children, Alanna and

Doran, are enrolled on the other side of the world at CIU.

“We are grateful that CIU still has a missional focus, and since

both Alanna and Doran have missionary hearts, we believe

that CIU is an excellent place for them to pursue their higher

education,” the Battermans wrote from Africa. “We are also

thankful for financial assistance so Alanna and Doran won’t be

burdened with college loans.”

And then there are

the Senseney brothers

.

Sam Senseney is thankful that he is more than a name on a

class roster. The freshman says his professors want to know him

and “get deep.”

And that is what Sam has needed from those around him at CIU

after his back was broken in a traffic accident that took the life

of his father and injured his older brother Flynn, a senior at CIU.

The accident came about a year after their mother’s death.

Even though Sam has healed from his injuries, he still has had a

lot of “why?” questions for God. But Sam is at CIU, where he is

surrounded by the support of his professors, as well as the guys

in his residence hall.

As for Flynn, life’s hurdles could have blocked him from

continuing at CIU, but instead he says, “The Lord has guided

me to CIU.”

“We have had a financial burden on us because of my mom

passing away and now my dad passing,” Flynn said. “It has

caused me to rely more on God.”

Both brothers are grateful for financial assistance from donors.

Here’s where you can “Double the blessing” of other CIU

students who may be feeling “Double the burden.” Visit

doublethedonation.com/ciu.

There you may discover that your

employer matches your charitable gifts to CIU.

And that’s “something to chew on” that has an eternal

impact.
