From help with hermeneutics to getting psyched up for psychology, the Academic Success Center is here to meet the unique needs of every CIU student — from freshmen to seminary students.
Study and Discussion Groups
Discussion groups focus on basic study skills and advanced subject topics and vary from semester to semester, depending on the course offerings.
Our testing center provides proctors for all CIU students as well as non-CIU students. There is a $25 fee per exam for non-CIU students and a fee may be required for CIU students. Prior approval is required for students with disabilities. Proctoring is also available for CLEP exam testers.
Free tutoring services help with everything, including scheduling advice, reviewing papers, test preparation and special projects. Tutoring is available 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday during the fall and spring semesters. Schedule an appointment with a tutor.
Private tutors are available through Access Tutor Matching Service (TMS). You can search for tutors by school, topic, course code or zip code.
Check the posted and online schedules each semester for a listing of experts available to help with specific courses.
Academic Coaching is an individual weekly appointment with a coach that can focus on such areas as accountability, academic needs and time management.
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
CIU provides accommodations according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act for students with documented disabilities. Students who believe they would qualify and would like to apply for accommodations should contact the Academic Success Center.
While we will try to accommodate walk-ins when possible, scheduling appointments (via phone, e-mail or in-person visit) is strongly recommended.
