Description

The clinical and simulation coordinator collaborates with the dean, assistant dean, program director, other faculty members, and staff to coordinate clinical education in the School of Nursing within a biblical worldview in order to provide Christ-like, compassionate care for healing and growth and fulfill the university’s mission of educating people from a Christian worldview to impact the nations with the message of Christ. The coordinator pursues that mission with a commitment to CIU’s educational philosophy of total life training; integrating academic excellence, spiritual formation, and ministry skills development, with Bible at the core.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical placements for pre-licensure BSN Students: Works with community clinical partners to schedule clinical rotations for students; ensures all requirements for students and nursing faculty are met and up-to-date prior to rotations, including vaccinations, physical exams, background checks, drug screening.
  • Coordination of skills/simulation education in the School of Nursing: Manages scheduling of skills/simulation classes in the skills/simulation centers at CIU and set-up and clean-up for skills/simulation classes while working with lead faculty for each clinical course, manages inventory and ordering for skills/simulation supplies, and manages maintenance of all manikins and skills/simulation equipment.
  • Student relationships: Advises and mentor students, fosters student-faculty relationships by participating in student functions and small groups as appropriate.
  • Professional engagement: Participates in professional associations, maintains licensure and certifications.
  • Ministry involvement: Models consistent service in local church, mission, and/or marketplace contexts.
  • Personal growth: Models Christ-like character and conduct; exhibits growth in areas of personal challenge.
  • Support of CIU mission and vision: Participates in growing a biblical university, encourages prospective students to attend CIU, and promotes CIU’s other ministries.
  • Alignment with CIU values: Consistently advocates and practices CIU’s five core values.
  • Promotion of CIU culture: Cooperates with others, expresses opinions appropriately, supports decisions once they are made, and cultivates corporate unity.
  • Participation in CIU activities: Attends faculty meetings, chapels, prayer days, commencement, homecoming, and other activities as set out in the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

  • Recent clinical experience in clinical nursing. 
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in online technology or willingness to learn.   
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating with and coaching adult learners and undergraduate students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and a collegial model of decision-making.
  • Ability to coordinate adjunct faculty and students in the simulation and clinical settings.
  • Must possess a valid unencumbered South Carolina or multi-state/compact license as a registered nurse.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Preferred prior experience in skills and/or simulation education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
