CIU Students Read through the Bible in Four Days
Students at Columbia International University commemorated Authority of Scripture Week on campus with a public reading of the Bible in four days from Oct. 25 to Oct. 28. The Authority of Scripture is a CIU core value.
From a tent located in the center of campus, students signed up to read in 15 minutes blocks from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Just before 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, the final words of the Bible were read:
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”
Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
“Amen!” and applause was the response of dozens of students who had timed their day to be near the tent as the final chapters of the Bible were read.
CIU Student Senate President Jason Harms says reading through the Bible unites the CIU community in an active way.
“It is easy to say we believe the Bible to be an integral part of our Christian lives, but we wanted to express that truth in a real way,” Harms said. “We believe investing in God's Word helps us to realize the importance of the Scriptures in our everyday lives.”
Three South Carolina media outlets came to the CIU campus to report on the event. See their reports here:
