Edwards said. “The girls in my group
have shown me Jesus by just living their
lives and being who the Lord has made
them.”
Leading from the
Sidelines - with a
Headache
After suffering a concussion midway
through the season, Shumate was further
challenged as a team leader. Unable to
attend practice or preside over family
meetings, she found other ways to
minister to her family members.
“I realized how hard it is to be involved
from the sideline,” Shumate said.
“Thankfully, I was able to pray for the
girls and be there for them through
encouragement and other ways. It made
me really appreciate the role (I have)
when I (am able to) do everything.”
With three of the four leaders eligible to
return for the 2017 season, the chemistry
is there for the team to grow closer to
one another, and to the Lord, as they
play soccer together.
“Over these last two seasons, I have seen
our team grow in the way we love and
care for one another,” Edwards observed.
“Our team loves in the way that we
see Jesus love. We love each person
wherever they are in their walk, and this
translates onto the field.”
