Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate

Already involved in ministry? The TESOL program provides you with an additional avenue for outreach. You’ll learn basic teaching theory and skills and gain an understanding of how language works as you prepare to teach English to adults.

Objectives:

After completing the program you will be able to:

  • Teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing at novice, intermediate, and advanced levels of proficiency
  • Develop and evaluate language teaching materials
  • Use English teaching as a ministry

This certificate program is not eligible for federal Title IV financial aid funds — i.e. Federal Direct Loans.

CELTIC (Columbia English Language Training International Certificate)

CELTIC Flyer In addition, we offer a four-week, 135-clock-hour training that prepares you to teach in language institutes in your home country and around the world. The CELTIC program explores proven techniques for teaching vocabulary, as well as speaking and listening, to K-12 and adult English language learners (ELLs) at various levels of proficiency, with a focus on adult learners. Upon completing the CELTIC, it can count for one 3-credit hour course in the MA TESOL program.
