While reading in the Psalms this morning, I read a verse in a way that I hadn't before.
Psalm 90:12 says, "So teach us to number our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom." (ESV)
I was reminded of my home, Heaven. My inheritance, with the Lord. My perspective? Eternal.
Of course I don't often live this way. I build up riches on earth, I put my stock in materials and I find security based on what others think of me. Yet this morning, the Spirit reminded me to remember my identity as a child of God, therefore giving me an eternal perspective.
As the second part of the verse says, such a perspective gives us godly wisdom to see happiness AND trials on earth for what they really are: temporary. I will admit, as a 21 year old college student, it can be hard for me to intentionally "number" my days because I feel like I have a whole life left to live! But today I am challenged to live with an eternal perspective that enables me to see life through God's lens.
How are you building up security in your circumstances today?
